United Steelworkers, Local 1-417 Bursary

1.  The value of this bursary is $500.00 to be awarded annually to a person who will register within the next year at any vocational or trade school or any other educational institution agreed to by the Selection Committee.

2.  The successful applicant will receive payment on submitting evidence that he or she has in fact registered at an educational institution.

3.  There will be four (4) $500.00 bursaries awarded annually.

4.  If no applicants qualified, the Bursary will be held in trust until the following year, when five awards will be made if applicable.

Eligibility

An applicant must be a member (as per the National Constitution) of, or a son or daughter of a member, or a son or daughter of a deceased member (as per the National Constitution at time of death) or an annuitant of a member of Local 1-417, United Steelworkers.

Basis of Choice

1. Academic achievement as recorded on transcript of marks (must be enclosed with Bursary Application).

2. Financial need (an estimate and description of expenses for that school year).

3. Other consideration such as future plans, community and school activities and contributions:

     a) Educational plans
     b) Activities, work and contributions
